Frequently asked questions

The Pema Pain-Free Living program is a physiotherapy-based program designed to identify and address the root causes of chronic pain. It combines targeted physiotherapy, electrotherapy, therapeutic massages, acupuncture, and therapeutic nutrition to reduce pain, restore function, and improve quality of life naturally and sustainably. To learn more about physiotherapy at Pema, visit our Physiotherapy FAQ page.

The Pema Pain-Free Living program is designed for individuals living with chronic or recurring pain that has not responded adequately to conventional treatment. It is equally suitable for those seeking a natural, integrated approach to pain management alongside their existing medical care.

The Pema Pain-Free Living program addresses chronic back and neck pain, arthritis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, sciatica, joint pain, migraine and chronic headaches, neuropathic pain, sports-related chronic pain, and pain associated with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.

Yes. Fibromyalgia and complex pain conditions respond well to the integrated physiotherapy approach at Pema, where targeted manual therapy, electrotherapy, acupuncture, and anti-inflammatory nutrition work together to address the multidimensional nature of these conditions. To learn more about physiotherapy at Pema, visit our Physiotherapy FAQ page.

Recent injuries respond more rapidly, as the tissue damage is acute and pain patterns are not yet entrenched. Long-standing chronic pain involves deeper nervous system sensitisation, inflammatory burden, and often psychological dimensions that require a more sustained, layered physiotherapy and naturopathic approach. Both are addressed with equal clinical rigour at Pema, with timelines calibrated accordingly.

8 nights (minimum) – Provides sufficient time to initiate meaningful therapeutic change in acute and short-term pain conditions. 15–28 nights – Recommended for guests with chronic, autoimmune, nervous or muscular pain.

No. All therapies are natural and non-invasive, designed to complement your current pain medications. Our medical team will review your medications at the start of your stay, and any gradual reduction will only be considered when clinically appropriate and in coordination with your treating physician.

Physiotherapy is the primary treatment modality, supported by ComRa and Varichrome, IFT, laser therapy, kinesio taping, dry needling, ultrasound therapy, and TENS to reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and restore mobility, alongside hydrotherapy, exercise therapy, zumba, and therapeutic massages to rebuild strength and circulation. Acupuncture, naturopathic treatments, yoga, and pranayama are also incorporated to support nervous system regulation and recovery. It is the cumulative effect of these therapies in a structured routine that delivers results efficiently. To learn more about physiotherapy at Pema, visit our Physiotherapy FAQ page.

Acupuncture complements physiotherapy by interrupting pain signals, reducing neurological sensitisation, lowering inflammatory mediators, and promoting the release of the body's natural endorphins. It addresses both the site of pain and the systemic imbalances that sustain it. For more details, please visit our Acupuncture & TCM FAQ page.

Yes. An anti-inflammatory therapeutic diet is a core component of the program, built around whole foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory compounds, while eliminating dietary triggers that perpetuate pain and inflammation. A personalised diet plan is provided before check-out for continued management at home.
